Palazzolo hydroelectric power plant celebrates its 50th anniversary
Palazzolo sull'Oglio, 04 December 2008
Italgen’s hydroelectric power plant of Palazzolo sull'Oglio, Brescia, celebrated its 50th anniversary on Dec. 4, 2008, in a ceremony attended by current and former employees, local government officials and the social community.

Since its start-up on Dec. 4, 1958, the plant has produced over 1,400 billion sustainable kWh, e.g. the equivalent amount of electricity needed to light up two towns of the size of Palazzolo.
Exploitation of the thrust created by the river Oglio has made it possible to cut 1 million tons of CO2 emissions equivalent to 2.5 million barrels of oil saved.
The station has become a major hub of Italgen’s production system, ensuring the supply of clean energy to the Italcementi cement plants of Calusco d'Adda and Rezzato.

The importance that Italgen has always attached to this is also proven by the nearly one million Euros invested in six years in modernizing and revamping it and for which the plant has received, in July 2008, ISO 9001 Quality Certification and ISO 140001 Environmental Certification.
