 Hydropower plants
Italcementi Group has been generating hydropower from hydraulic sources since the early 20th Century.

 Wind Farms
In 2006 Italgen launched a series of initiatives in the field of electricity generation from wind power.

 Solar plants
In line with Italgen's strategic development goals and as further confirmation of its commitment to sustainability, in 2011 a photovoltaic system was installed at former mining site allowing it to be totally reclaimed...

 Thermal power plants
Since the post-war period, exploitation of thermal energy sources has always been crucial for Italcementi Group to meet its energy requirements.
Today Italgen owns the thermal power plant of Villa di Serio, in the Bergamo valleys...

 Power lines
Italgen currently owns 24 power transmission lines for a total length of about 400 km. Power lines connect Italgen’s main hydropower plants with Italcementi Group’s cement plants. Almost all Italgen’s power lines are of the overhead type.
Glossary

Hydropower plant
"The operating principle of a hydropower plant is very simple: suitably devised turbines convert the potential energy of water falling from higher elevations downstream through streams, channels, and watercourses, into electric energy. Therefore, hydropower relies primarily on rainwater.

Wind Farm
"A wind farm is a group of wind turbines in the same location used to produce electric power. A large wind farm may consist of several hundred individual wind turbines, and cover an extended area of hundreds of square miles, but the land between the turbines may be used for agricultural or other purposes. A wind farm may also be located offshore."

Solar Power
"Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity. Sunlight can be converted directly into electricity using Photovoltaics, or indirectly with concentrated solar power (CSP), which normally focuses the sun's energy to boil water which is then used to provide power."

Power lines
"Overhead power transmission lines are made of steel lattice towers or metal pylons that keep conductors at a safe height. Medium voltage transmission lines are simpler and shorter. Submarine high voltage cables represent another type of special transmission lines.

Thermal power plant
"A thermal power plant is a plant for the production of electricity through steam and/or gas. "
