Aït Baha – Morocco

Aït Baha Concentrated Solar Power pilot plant was conceived in 2011.

It is a unique example of a thermo-solar installation linked to a cement plant. That was the challenge.

Innovative solutions sustained the project rationale. Beyond electricity generation, wet raw materials drying, connection to the plant’s hot fumes and sustainable technologies were our main drivers for an R&D investment of about 3 million euro.

The installation consists of three modules, potentially expandable, with a total reflective surface of 6,000 square meters and a thermal peak output of 3,800 kW, equivalent to about 1,000 MWh of electricity/year.

In terms of environmental impact, an annual saving of about 500 tons of CO2 and 1,300 oil barrels are estimated.
