The international Conference has been organized in Rome on May 19th by RES4MED (Renewable Energy Solutions for the Mediterranean), under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Among the attendants, some of the most outstanding experts in the field of renewable energy, called to discuss the opportunities and challenges related to energy investments in Africa, starting from the experience in the MENA Region (Middle East North Africa).
The key event was the study carried out by RES4MED’s members on some countries of the Mediterranean Rim, "Survey on the main barriers affecting investments in Renewable Energy capacity in the Mediterranean", whose results were discussed during a panel composed of international investors, including Italgen, and government representatives from Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia.
"These countries have great potential- said Giuseppe De Beni, CEO & Managing Director of Italgen - but they need a well-defined and stable regulatory framework to ensure the bankability of the projects and attract investments for the economic development of the energy sector".
The Conference was also the chance to illustrate RES4Africa, a spinoff project of RES4MED, promoting clean tech solutions in Sub-Saharan continent thanks to a network of key international stakeholders: utilities, industries, agencies, technical service providers and top academia.
