The event, held in Casablanca, brought to the attention of Moroccan Authorities and international investors the role played by Italgen within a platform of joint projects for the deployment of renewable energies in the country.
The 3 day-conference and exhibition, organized under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and sponsored by players and international associations such as RES4MED, was a valuable occasion for investors to interact with Government representatives sharing program launched by the Ministry of Energy and the Environment.
“A political program aiming to attract private investors to develop renewable sources, the new economic growth lever of the country” said the Energy Minister Abdelkader Amara.
A side event "Photovoltaic deployment, lessons learned and potential of application in Morocco and Western Africa", was organized by RES4MED on September 8th.
During his speech Giuseppe De Beni, CEO & Managing Director of Italgen, stressed the leading role of the country in the MENA Region, mentioning the implemented projects and those currently under construction and praised the renewable energy target of 52% by 2030 recently declared by His Majesty Mohammed VI.
"We have gained a very positive experience in Morocco - said Mr De Beni - After the construction of a wind farm in Lâayoune and a solar thermal pilot plant using CSP (Concentrated Solar Power) technology in Aït Baha, we are still willing to invest in a country marked by a growing energy demand, a stable regulatory framework and by the implementation of renewable energy projects. Morocco is a clear example of how to attract investments by creating value and contributing to cover the growing energy needs".
