Under the theme “Sustainable Energy: investments, employment, technology” the 4th Arab Forum for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ARFREE) has started in Kuwait, an international platform held every two years under the patronage of the League of Arab States (LAS) involving high-level governmental officials, Energy and Electricity Ministers, Head of International and Regional Organizations, Chief Executive Officers of top Business Companies leaders in the energy fields and experts from the Arab region and the globe.
The event aims to illustrate the existing and future RE market potentials in the Arab region and discuss policies currently in place to enhance the economic growth through renewable energy. The Forum is also the chance to share experience on how business can contribute to build up local RE value chain and create jobs accordingly.
On the occasion of the event Italgen has highlighted “the role of technology and innovation to facilitate the transition to new energy systems” stressing some key topics for future energy market transformation, i.e. the importance of investments’ financing, de-risking analysis and the promotion of sustainable and bankable projects in the Arab countries.
“Nowadays new technologies can be helpful to develop renewables in the region, contributing to the energy mix fixed by the Arab Strategy for the Development of Renewable Energy 2010-2030. - said Giuseppe De Beni, CEO & Managing Director of Italgen. But, to ensure project bankability a stable legal framework is crucial since the beginning to encourage investments. An additional crucial step is to improve capacity building, in order to grant future employment”.
