Pursuing a renewable energy sources diversification strategy, we have conceived and developed a 6 MW photovoltaic plant in Guiglia, northern Italy.
Our challenge was to turn an exhausted quarry of a leading industrial Group (equivalent to more than 40 soccer fields) into a PV plant providing local communities with “green” energy. A successful example of the enhancement of an abandoned area, avoiding any visual impact on the environment and exploiting all available infrastructures.
The plant, entered in operation in 2011, was erected in 5 months.
During the first years of commercial operations its availability rate exceeded any expectation.
With an annual production of 7,500 MWh, the plant meets the energy needs of 2,000 households, avoiding the emission of 3,500 tons of CO2 and allowing a saving of 9,500 barrels of oil equivalent per year.
In 2018 the PV park was sold.
